Growing up I was always told that if you threw a penny off the Empire State Building it would make a huge crater upon hitting the ground. Naturally, such a claim needs tested first hand. Unfortunately, I can assure you that it is absolutely impossible to discover the results of this test when the security guard is handcuffing you because some tourist who witnessed the experiment was a tattletale. This story proves beyond a reasonable doubt that a Wiimote is denser then a skyscraper window…
On Sunday July 23rd 2007, a Wii Remote committed suicide by launching itself through the blinds and through the window of John Doe's apartment. No one was injured as the glass and controller landed on the roof of the restaurant 12 stories below. There are now alleged reports that this may be an involuntary manslaughter case due to INNOCENT PROTECTED's fingerprints being found on the controller. The controller wrist strap broke off of the primary suspect's wrist and Wii Bowling was believed to be playing at the time of the incident. Witnesses could not be immediately contacted for comment.
Those poor restaurant patrons had no idea how close death was that day. It was there... on the 12th floor... Stalking them! Moral of the story? Take as many awesome photos covering the event as this reader did. It's like Carmen San Diego adventure all over again!
These guys are just straight up industrious! They built themselves a robot out of legos that throws perfect strikes on via the Wii.
"You are looking at a Wii Remote mounted on a robotically controlled swing. A second motor is used to trigger the bowling, by first Pressing the A button and left arrow, and then holding down the B button, swinging, and finally releasing the B button."
That beats the heck out of the pyramid that I built with legos. Apparently some were born to create feats of engineering, and I was born to make fun of it. They've got a plethora of pictures and a video to go with it over on their site.
Just in case anyone missed it. Wii.tv has released an April Fools video on us all, trying to convince us that there is going to be a new Zelda set in the future. Their video is a little too long of a trip to take for a joke, but it was a nice try nonetheless.
It's actually pretty interesting to hear all of the different places they've spliced footage together from to come up with it. It's a lot of concept art and still from Star Wars and Final Fantasy, but it's all fake.
Great news for those of you who brush your teeth in the living room. The writer over at Microscopiq has found us a game that allows you to brush your teeth while monitoring a fish tank.
... ... Those tasks sounded more exciting before I wrote them out...
"The game involves keeping your character alive in a perilous fish tank. Only by brushing your teeth with the correct motion and making sure to cover every last tooth can you escape harm. The idea, of course, is that kids donk't do the greatest job of dental care so anything that helps them avoid rabbid tooth is goodness. Some might complain the game has little to do with the real-world task but that just earns extra charm points in my book."
Wii toe-nail clipping along with some sort of of Wii nose-hair trimming are the next logical choices. Maybe we can combine those with watching paint dry, or doing the dishes.

Well now they're back with a sequel in which they do pretty much exactly the same thing as last time. When you have a good thing, why mess with it I guess.
It looks like we're heading high rez for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles. Slated for a late 2007 release, Umbrella Chronicles is going to join the very small number of high resolution Wii titles.
"Capcom's senior director of strategic planning and research Christian Svensson has confirmed that Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for Nintendo Wii will be presented in Expanded Definition 480p progressive scan and 16:9 widescreen. -Joystiq"
As much fun as it has been to see the launch and early titles come out, I'm pretty excited to see where all consoles will be at the end of the year. With developers finally having ample time to see what they can do with the console technology.
Interesting turn of events in the last couple of days regarding retailer Gamestop (not to be confused with Gamespot) and the persistent Wii shortages. During a discussion following the financial reports for Gamestop, COO Dan DeMatteo said that he believes Nintendo "intentionally dried up their supply because they made their numbers for the year" with the Nintendo Wii. Nintendo's new fiscal year begins April 1.
Today, Nintendo's George Harrison gave a response saying "No, that's not at all the case. We have worldwide territories that are all competing over the available production. The Japan and European markets are doing extremely well with the Wii. People in Japan at NCL [Nintendo Co. Ltd.] are making the best decisions that they can about which products get shipped to which market and when."
I think Nintendo is the one telling the truth this time. As clever as it sounds to "not make money today in order to make money in a few months," it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Althought the delay of opening up other worldwide markets in order to adequately supply your current ones would also seem to be a little smarter.

Imagine you're on a beautiful Caribbean cruise, sailing the seas in the lap of luxury... What do you want to do? If you said play Wii on a big screen, then this cruise line is looking for you...
"Norwegian Cruise Line has added the Wii to several of its cruise ships, and plans to have the system onboard its entire fleet within the next month. The Wiis will be housed in the "atrium and other public rooms" of each ship and connected to giant monitors for all patrons to see.
The games currently slated to be available on the cruises are Wii Sports, Wii Play, WarioWare: Smooth Moves, and Excite Truck."
I didn't really see this one coming to be honest. I just need stop asking the question "Where can the Wii go?" and start asking myself "Where can't the Wii go?"
